Former Force Commander of MINUSMA Lt Gen (Rtd) Dr Dennis Gyllensporre Al Core presents two books on UN Peacekeeping at the Rwanda Peace Academy
Musanze – 4 November 2024
Today, the former Force Commander of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), Lt Gen (Rtd) Dr Dennis Gyllensporre Al Core, an Associate Professor at the Swedish Defence University, presented his two books on the topics of UN Peacekeeping together with his colleague Professor Håkan Edström, at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA).
The books are insightful. One book, “Military Diplomacy: Reflections by Former UN Force Commanders” highlights the actions beyond traditional leadership that commanders must master in order to succeed. The other book, “Military Peacekeeping Mediation: A First-Hand Account from Mali” offers a unique opportunity to grasp the vital role played by military mediation in conflicts.
Officers from the National Police College (Musanze) attended the presentation and participated in subsequent discussions. Thirty military, police and civilian personnel who are currently attending the International Human Rights Law (IHRL) in Peace Support Operations (PSO) Course at the RPA, also attended the presentation and participated in the discussions. The ongoing course is organized in partnership between the Rwanda Peace Academy and the United Nations Human Rights Office in Rwanda.
