Protection of Civilians Course Starts at the Rwanda Peace Academy
Musanze – 17 April 2023
A regional training entitled Protection of Civilians (PoC) Course commenced today Monday, 17 April 2023 at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) training facility in Musanze and will run up to 21 April 2023. The course is organized in partnership between the Rwanda Peace Academy and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
The aim of the course is to enhance the capacity of participants for the effective implementation of protection of civilians’ mandates in peace operations, in order to mitigate the effects of conflicts on civilians.
The course will be attended by twenty-five (25) military, police and civilian personnel from four Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) member states, namely: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

The course was officially opened by Colonel (Rtd) Jill Rutaremara, the Director of the Rwanda Peace Academy.
