UN Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Training of Trainers Course Ends
The UN Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Training of Trainers Course that started on 26 February 2018 ended today, 2 March 2018. The official closing ceremony was attended by the First Secretary in charge of Political Affairs at the Netherlands Embassy, Ms Alma Ibrahimovic.
The USA Embassy and US Africa Command were represented by Mr. Alan Royston while Rafeal Barbieri represented the Integrated Training Service (ITS) at the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO).
The course was officially closed by Col. Jill Rutaremara, the Director of Rwanda Peace Academy.
A total of thirty six (36) military, police and civilian officers from eleven countries namely: Benin; Ethiopia; Ghana; Kenya; Malawi; Netherlands; Rwanda; Switzerland; Uganda; the United States of America; and Zambia attended the POC course.
The course sought to familiarize peacekeeping trainers from member States with the newly developed Comprehensive Protection of Civilians (CPOC) training materials, in order to enable them to deliver the same course in their respective countries.
